About the program
The SURE certification guarantees sustainable development and the responsible use of solid biomass in the energy sector and contributes in a tangible way to the reduction of greenhouse gases.
It is a scheme developed to comply with the supply chains of solid biomass for the production of electricity, heat and biogas in accordance with the requirements of the RED II Directive.
Why choose this program?
Having a SURE certificate from Control Union allows companies to demonstrate their commitments and achievements in sustainability. If you want to demonstrate commitment to sustainability and comply with the Renewable Energy Directive II for electricity production, heat production, cooling in biomass plants and biogas plants, SURE should be the scheme of choice.
In addition to compliance with the Renewable Energy Directive, it is added that for those facilities that have different sources of solid biomass streams in their production process to generate biogas, heat or cooling and must verify and report greenhouse gas emissions under the European Union Emissions Trading System, could report an emission factor equal to 0, and, therefore, the emissions derived from said source stream would also be equal to 0, provided that compliance with the requirements can be justified. sustainability criteria and/or compliance with the reduction of emissions established in the Renewable Energy Directive II or that said criteria are not applicable to be able to notify an emission factor equal to 0. Otherwise, said flow of origin would be considered as a flow of fossil origin and emissions should be reported accordingly. Schemes like SURE can help clients justify such criteria.
