Inputs For Organic Farming

About this Standard

Control Union has developed an input evaluation program for use in organic agriculture under the main international organic standards (Europe, United States, Japan, Korea).

It is currently developed for inputs such as fertilizers and soil improvers, as well as for phytosanitary products.

The program is based on a documentary review of the technical information of all the components of the input (ingredients, additives, processing aids) and its complete manufacturing process. In some cases, it requires some types of analysis (composition, pesticides, among others). Based on an evaluation of the complexity of the input, after the documentary review stage, an on-site audit of the manufacturing facility could be carried out as part of the evaluation process.

As part of our procedures, we keep strict rules for maintaining confidentiality of the information that any company shares with our staff, which is part of our terms of contract.

Why choose this Standard?

Organic farmers must use only substances allowed by organic standards. Many times, it is very difficult for a farmer to have all the information on an input to be able to demonstrate that it is allowed for use, which is why he ultimately cannot acquire it, much less use it.

Control Union’s Input program allows manufacturers and distributors of inputs to have an Attestation that mentions under which organic standards the input complies, and therefore facilitates its acquisition and use by farmers.
