About this Standard

The regulation of organic production in Peru is based on Law N° 29196 – Law for the Promotion of Organic or Ecological Production, the Supreme Decree N° 044-2006-AG and Supreme Decree N° 002-2020-MINAGRI.

The Technical Regulation of Organic Products (RTPO, by its acronym in Spanish) aims to establish and guarantee consumers that organic products comply with the guidelines established in the Regulations at all stages of the product value chain.

Why choose this Standard?

The certification of products as organic under the RTPO is necessary to market organic products in Peruvian territory and includes imported products.

It covers the scope of plant production, animal production, beekeeping, wild harvesting, food processing and marketing.

In case your market is only for export, it is still mandatory to register with a Certification Body approved by the National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA) and receive an audit under the RTPO.
